Join this comprehensive 8-day group tour across the Philippines, commencing in Manila. Journey to Banaue for scenic trekking in typical Ifugao Villages, complemented by visits to hanging coffins and subterranean caves in Sagada. The itinerary includes a stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Vigan, in Ilocos, followed by a brief city tour in Laoag before returning to Manila by flight. This meticulously crafted tour seamlessly combines cultural exploration and nature experiences, fostering a unique camaraderie amongst participants as they share this captivating journey through the Philippines.
Upon arrival in Manila, a dedicated driver will meet you for your private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.
After breakfast, join the group for the journey to Banaue in an air-conditioned vehicle via the North Expressway, reaching Bacolor Pampanga in two hours. Bacolor, severely affected by the Mount Pinatubo eruption in June 1993, showcases the Basilica, a local landmark buried three-quarters in lahar. The drive continues through picturesque countryside and the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya, with a brief lunch stop in San Jose City. Passing through Dalton Pass and Bagabag, the journey culminates in a late afternoon arrival in Banaue for guesthouse check-in. (B)
After breakfast, your guide will take you to a viewpoint for a stunning panorama of the Banaue Rice Terraces, known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." Carved into the Cordillera Mountains over 2,000 years ago by the Ifugao people, these terraces showcase a harmonious blend of agriculture and landscape. Head to Hapao for a terrace hike, offering an opportunity to explore Ifugao villages and engage with locals, before returning to your hotel. (B)
After early breakfast and check-out, head to Sagada. Stop at Bontoc Museum en route to explore Cordillera's cultural heritage. Sagada offers a glimpse into unique burial practices with the Hanging Coffins, believed to span over 2,000 years. Embraced by the Igorots, this practice involves suspending coffins on limestone cliffs to bring the deceased closer to ancestral spirits. Explore the Burial Caves, unveiling local rituals, and relax in the serene Eco Valley amid lush landscapes. (B)
Check out after breakfast and head to Vigan via a scenic coastal route (approx. 5 hours). Upon arrival, check in at a central hotel and explore Vigan's UNESCO-listed heritage with a kalesa tour. Discover Calle Crisologo's colonial charm, characterised by preserved structures and antique shops.
After an early breakfast, depart from the group to journey to Laoag for your domestic flight back to Manila. Explore Laoag, the provincial hub of Ilocos Norte, renowned for the UNESCO Heritage site, San Agustin Church (Paoay Church), a globally celebrated baroque masterpiece. Visit St. William's Cathedral, where the belltower gradually sinks due to soft soil. Conclude with lunch at a local restaurant before heading to Laoag Airport. Upon your Manila arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. (B)
Following check-out, proceed to the airport for your return flight to the UK. If you wish to extend your stay and explore one of the numerous beautiful islands in the Philippines, feel free to contact us for additional options and arrangements. (B)
